Join us as an AVP – Operations Analyst, where you will play a pivotal leadership role in supporting the Branch Head in managing the GIFT City IFSC Branch. You will oversee key deliverables across Transformation, Branch Management, Regulatory Engagement, Regulatory Reporting, and Controls, ensuring operational efficiency, strong governance, and sustainable long-term growth in alignment with Barclays’ global standards and local regulatory requirements.

Where you will:

Drive Transformation

  • Lead and support branch-wide transformation initiatives aligned with Barclays’ strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, technology, and business teams to implement new systems, processes, and products.
  • Champion continuous improvement and change management to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Track industry and regulatory developments and proactively adapt branch operations.

Manage Day-to-Day Branch Operations

  • Oversee operations across:
    • Client onboarding
    • Foreign Currency Term/ECB Loans, Buyer’s Credit
    • Term Deposits
    • Payment Operations
    • Money Market products including FX, Swaps, Bonds
  • Support the Branch Head in executing the operating plan and growth strategy.
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Technology, Finance, HR, and group teams to ensure seamless operations and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Promote a customer-centric culture and support client management and business development.

Lead Regulatory Engagement

  • Act as a key liaison with IFSCA, RBI, SEZ authorities, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Represent the branch in audits, inspections, and regulatory meetings.
  • Maintain and strengthen proactive regulatory relationships aligned with business and compliance objectives.

Deliver Accurate Regulatory Reporting

  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of reports to IFSCA, RBI, SEZ, FIU-IND, and other authorities.
  • Interpret new guidelines and implement necessary changes to processes and systems.
  • Provide updates on regulatory and compliance matters to senior management and committees.

Strengthen Controls & Governance

  • Maintain a robust control environment across operational, financial, and project management activities.
  • Implement governance frameworks, risk policies, and quality standards.
  • Identify, escalate, and resolve control gaps and operational risks.
  • Support preparation of risk-related materials for internal and regional governance forums.

Lead Stakeholder Management & Team Culture

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across Compliance, Risk, Finance, Technology, and HR.
  • Support business teams in interpreting and implementing regulatory changes.
  • Foster a culture of integrity, teamwork, and accountability within the branch.

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • Have strong knowledge of GIFT City regulations, FEMA guidelines, IFSCA/RBI frameworks, and applicable products.
  • Bring working knowledge of Corporate Banking, Forex, and Derivative businesses.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical ability, problem solving, and multi-tasking capability.
  • Be proactive, self-driven, and comfortable with high-accountability environments.
  • Possess strong communication, stakeholder management, and issue-escalation skills.

Essential Skills / Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Finance.
  • Experience in branch banking, customer service, or banking operations in a regulated environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Indian banking sector, regulatory legislation, and operational requirements.

Desirable Skills / Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-graduate degree/diploma in Finance or Accountancy.
  • Experience in regulated banking or financial services, preferably in GIFT City or similar markets.
  • Expertise in FX products, derivatives, treasury operations, and related policies.
  • Experience conducting regulatory or compliance training.

Purpose of the role

To support business areas with day-to-day processing, reviewing, reporting, trading and issue resolution. 

Accountabilities

  • Support various business areas with day-to-day initiatives including processing, reviewing, reporting, trading, and issue resolution.
  • Collaboration with teams across the bank to align and integrate operational processes.
  • Identification of areas for improvement and providing recommendations in operational processes.
  • Development and implementation of operational procedures and controls to mitigate risks and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Development of reports and presentations on operational performance and communicate findings to internal senior stakeholders.
  • Identification of industry trends and developments to implement best practice in banking operations.
  • Participation in projects and initiatives to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
