Quantitative Developer

Join us at Barclays as a Quantitative Developer in the Equities and Hybrid Products team, which is part of the Global Quantitative Analytics group. In your role, you will support the development of features within FRTB (Fundamental Review of the Trading Book), which is a regulatory framework for managing market risk in banks. Your software development tasks will primarily involve our low-level equity pricing library, which is written mostly in C++, but you will also take advantage of scripting languages when appropriate. This is a great opportunity to apply your technical expertise in an environment that will give you access to a range of financial products. Prior experience in quantitative finance is advantageous but not mandatory. Willingness to learn and comfort with mathematical concepts are excellent substitutes.

To be successful as a Quantitative Developer you should have:

• Good programming fundamentals in C++
• A Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant technical/numerical field
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English
• A willingness to learn new financial products quickly

Additional skills of value include:

• Previous experience with other programming languages such as Python
• Willingness to learn new business processes and programming languages as needed
• The ability to engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders as the role requires

Purpose of the role

To provide quantitative and analytical expertise to support trading strategies, risk management, and decision-making within the investment banking domain, applying quantitative analysis, mathematical modelling, and technology to optimise trading and investment opportunities. 

Accountabilities

• Development and implementation of quantitative models and strategies to derive insight into market trends and optimize trading decisions, pricing, and risk management across various financial products and markets.
• Working closely with sales teams to identify clients' needs and develop customised solutions.
• In-depth research, data analysis, and statistical modelling to derive insights into market trends, pricing, and risk dynamics.
• Provide front office infrastructure support though ownership and maintenance of analytical libraries.
• Provision of expertise on quantitative methodologies, technological advancements, and industry best practices to drive innovation within the trading environment.
